There is still humanity left in Delhi

October 30th, 2005

Another thing surprise me are the people of Delhi. I would like to say “THANK YOU” to all those people who came forward yesterday and helped the victims of Delhi bomb blast. The more I hate Delhi police and Government for yesterday’s blast, more I just love those people who are brave and ‘human’ enough to help others.

To be very frank, I didn’t expect this from Delhi; people really don’t care much about others here, because they are so much busy in their own life. And I thought we all have become androids, and humanity is left somewhere in the race of gaining power and making money.

But yesterday’s incident changed my thinking. Yes, we are still human. I saw interviews of people who carried people on their back to Hospital, who helped the victim risking their own life. There was one guy who carried a person with missing body parts on a wooden cart pulled by him. They were not part of any rescue team who are trained to do this, but normal people who just believe in humanity.

Hi - regarding your comment on my blog - I am certainly not suggesting that we should ignore terrorism. But we should not get terrorized by it. If yesterday’s blasts had caused panic in the city and all business had closed down for several days, the terrorists would have achieved their motive.

You are right that the Delhiites have shown lot of character and courage in face of adversity. We are usually backstabbing over competitive jerks. But yesterday people helped each other selflessly. Delhi still has hope!
