Sheetla Mata Temple in Gurgaon

January 2nd, 2006

I heard about this temple from many friends so I thought lets start a new year with morning visit to Sheetla Mata Mandir. It’s not as good as Delhi temples but it’s the biggest temple in Gurgaon.

The only thing I didn’t really like is stupid beggars who want only money. I offered ‘prasad’ and food to few but they refused and said ‘sahab khana nahi paise de do’ and why he wants money? So he can buy either ‘daru’ or ‘bidi’.

This is nothing. They are just poor beggars, who survives only on offerings. I was surprised, when one of my friend told me, that Sidhivinayak temple in Mumbai has a website where you can offer them money online itself. Which means you don’t even have to visit a temple to see the God. The care takers & priests ultimately need your money not your worships. And more onto that, a very famous chicken supplier has made a replica of Balaji temple in Pune. So if these people can do such things to earn more, i think those beggars were not doing anything wrong.
