I was right! For Google, Open Source is a way to beat Microsoft

November 1st, 2005

When I was blogged last week about how Google taking shed under Open Source to beat Microsoft, I didn’t expect this will be ‘hence proved’ in just 7 days.

As per News.com

Google plans to hire programmers to improve OpenOffice.org, a demonstration of its affinity for open source initiatives and one the company believes also shows sound practical sense.

Its simple, your enemy’s enemy is your friend! Google knows they can’t beat or buy your Microsoft, so invest in Sun (an arch rival of Microsoft). Microsoft Office is one of the most profitable divisions of Microsoft, and if Google can succeed in reducing its market share, it will almost cut the right hand of Microsoft.
